Education is compulsory for children in Ireland from the ages of six to sixteen or until students have completed three years of second-level education. Institute of Technology

The institutes provide higher technical and technological education through two-year Higher Certificate, three-year Ordinary Bachelor Degree, and four-year Honours Bachelor Degrees. Colleges of education are closely linked to universities either as Recognised Colleges or as Associated Colleges. The colleges are privately owned, but state-supported. Post Study Work Visa

In Ireland you will be allowed to work for 20 hours per week during the academic session and 40 hours per week during the vacation. You have to meet the following criteria to work in Ireland.

  • Hold a GNIB (Garda National Immigration Bureau) card – a certificate of registration you receive from the Immigration Office on your arrival in Ireland
  • Be enrolled in a study programme that is included on the government’s list of visa eligible courses.
  • Studying a minimum 1-year-long course

Short Stay ‘C’ Study Visa

This visa is required for entry into Ireland when the duration of your stay/course is less than 90 days.

Long Stay ‘D’ Study Visa

This visa is required for entry into Ireland when the duration of your stay/course is more than 90 days.

Waiting period for a student visa application is around 15-60 days. For single-entry visa the fee is EUR 60 and a multiple-entry visa the fee is EUR 100.
